Loving the Lonely

Her self-esteem is low after being emotionally and verbally abused by her husband of 10+ years. By the world's standards, she is plain. Rarely do you see her smile or look you in the eye when you talk with her…. But today was different.

She hadn’t been to Agape for a few months and when she came to the back of the center to begin shopping, servers greeted her warmly by name. She enjoyed a much needed hug, and she even shyly smiled as someone told her how much she was missed.

Later, as this shy client was waiting for her ride, she was overheard sharing with another client that she had been with family members for a gathering in their home and was ignored the entire time, but how she feels so special when she comes to the Agape Center and always leaves feeling better. The other woman leaned over and hugged her saying “I feel the same way”.

Here at Agape we seek to build relationships, call people by name, look them in the eyes, and let them know that they are seen, heard, and loved. We want them to know that they are loved by God and important to Him. We’re committed to showing the love of Christ to those in need. We want to be the spark that sets them on fire for Him.
